John Deere has announced that it is rolling out the new 959ML Shovel Logger, which is designed to handle logs in rough terrain. It will be available in a shovel logger or directional feller configuration straight from the factory, ensuring maximum productivity throughout the workday.
“The new 959ML Shovel Logger leverages the top features from our M- and MH-Series models, including the best-in-class leveling control system, to produce a new machine specifically designed for steep slope operations,” said Jim O’Halloran, global product marketing manager, John Deere Construction & Forestry. “We are excited to bring a new solution to the market that helps our customers be more productive, regardless of where they work.”
The 11-meter live heel shovel logger boom and the 9.12-meter and 10.34-meter directional feller booms are all designed for high performance in steep slope conditions. Each boom option has excellent downhill reach capability, even at a full leveler tilt.
The leveling control system utilizes sensor technology while electronically preventing any possible mechanical interference when tilting to the side. Additionally, the 959ML Shovel Logger has a powerful 9.0-liter John Deere Final Tier 4 engine, which boasts 330 horsepower.
The cab of the 959ML Shovel Logger has a large, upward viewing skylight and downward viewing window for increased visibility. The high leveling capability of the system boosts overall comfort and productivity, regardless of the conditions. Finally, the machine can be equipped with several optional add-ons, ranging from a four-point seat harness to a slope indicator.
